The Birds

It was a phenomenon. Hundreds of crows, literally at least 200 crows. It was about 9:30 Friday night, I was working at the video store. A customer came in and was browsing around for a while. He asked if we had seen the birds. Naturally, working in a video store, I assumed that he meant the old Hitchcock flick. Of course, I love that movie. No, I mean the birds outside, he replied. Huh? I inquired, oh so eloquently. You can even hear them inside here, Matt piped in. We stepped outside to have a gander. Surely enough, there they were. The sky was quite accommodating to the sight. A full moon, partially blocked out by eerie clouds set the perfect stage to give these creatures an added boost over the intimidating presence lent to them already by their sheer numbers. It was a scene right out of that old Hitchcock film. Why they are here I can honestly say, I don't know. Perhaps a bad omen, or hopefully a good one. Some of you may be thinking, well, she is an aspiring writer, but I assure you, this is no made up story. You should have heard the sound as they all descended upon the bare branches of the trees. The flapping of their wings against one another, in conjunction with the sounds of the branches bending under their weight. I cannot even describe it here. And then it was silent.

Wow, what an exciting day. So, I woke up this morning, and decided that I needed to do something with my life. So, I hopped in my car, I had a full tank of gas, and off I went. My first stop was a small gathering of people that I came across in Randolph VT. I just saw all of them standing there and thought that I would see what was up. It turns out that this young couple had just bought a house. They brought with them a brand new washing machine, and so they took the old out and put it on the lawn with a sign that said "Free OBO." Well, as it turned out, with all of the temperature changes lately, and the very soft nature of that particular chunk of land, the machine had sunk its way pretty well into the earth, where it had become frozen in again. An older man had stopped by, in need of a washing machine, and attempted to pry it out of the earth. Well, a middle aged woman saw this elder fussing with the machine and stopped by to help him. She thought that it would be a good idea to pour water all around to melt the ground, but she did not realize that between the water already being so cold from sitting in her car, and the ground being frozen, that it would just freeze and make things worse. Another car came by, this a man, who had thought that the solution would be to use heat, he had an industrial blower in his truck, and he thought that if they could somehow get it to blow the heat off of his engine at the machine, the it might work. Well... That was just a dumb idea. This was about the time that the young couple, in whose yard all of these people were milling about, returned from breakfast. The young man thought that he could break up the earth with an array of tools, and this is where I showed up. I told them all that I thought that we had enough of us standing there to just push it out with our combined manpower, and sure enough, we managed it ok. I said nice to meet you all, but I must be on my way. And off I went.

The next leg of my journey took me to West Lebanon NH. Nothing too fancy going on there, I stopped for coffee and decided to head back. Unfortunately, that was not to be so easy. Somehow, it seemed, I just kept getting on the highway going the wrong way, turning around, and doing it all over again. I finally decided that the only way to be found, was to try to get lost, and sure enough, it worked, and I was on my way.

Here I thought that I should stop in Rutland for a quick trip to Wal Mart. I do hate Wal Mart, but you can't beat their prices on litter and 68 packs of toilet paper, so, what the heck, I said. Well, wouldn't you know it, parking was an adventure. I thought about pulling a Towanda, but I am not older, and I don't have more insurance. It seemed like the same brown SUV kept pulling into my spot, five times this happened. It turned out it was only the same one twice. But still. Then, wouldn't you know it, that same woman took the last Scott tissue on the shelf and I had to get Charmin, and then she was in front of me in line. What a mess, first, she is digging for dollars and change, but she just was a bit short. So she gets out her credit card, and it is declined. Well she throws a fit. All of the other lines were really long, so I didn't dare give up my spot, but I may as well have. She was yelling her head off, and the manager had to come over, and he was like I am sorry, we can try it again, but if it won't go through, than there is nothing I can do. Would you like to call the company, and she goes on to throw another fit, ends up putting back the toilet paper (I didn't really have the cajones to ask if I could have that one instead, so now I am suck with the damn Charmin) and paying in cash.

After all of that adventure, I thought it would do just as well to just come home. Well, then I remembered that I had to be to work, so off I went.

Yeah, me and Franklin!

Ok, so this is my cat Franklin, and me in my new glasses. He is the best cat ever. Once again, I have nothing terribly exciting. I have been really thrilled with my glasses, as now I can see things. Yay. It is not the best picture, as I just woke up, and I only have Jeremy's camera phone on which to take pictures. Anyhow, these are my new glasses, and my kitty Franklin.

Getting Glasses

OOh, I am so excited. I just went to the eye doctor, and I should have glasses by tomorrow. Apparently, I am right on the line for driving. 20/40. Anyhow, I know that it might sound crazy, but I am really excited to be getting glasses. I will be able to see! So that is about the only exciting thing that happened today, and so I am going to cut it short. I will post a picture when I have my new specs.

So this is blogging

Ok, so this is my first blog. I am sitting home watching Franklin be cute. I did just about nothing today. A bit of homework, some dishes, and relaxation. I am watching Family Guy, which is a show I love, and having a good time. So this is me being lazy.

Tomorrow is the day that I go for my eye exam. I am so excited that I will finally be able to see!

Anyhow, I think I can promise you that my blog will get more exciting from here on out, but for today I just wanted to get started.
